Batman: The Telltale Series - Episode 4: Guardian of Gotham Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Batman: Episode 4 Guardian of Gotham sets up for the finale by providing the player with a lot of options and choices. Seeing how they will play out in the final episode is the major draw for episode 4 instead of answering questions. Despite this, it’s an entertaining penultimate conclusion to season 1. After critical choice and fight at the end I cannot wait to play the final episode .
Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 4- Guardian of Gotham may not have been the most impressive of the series but it did continue to keep me intrigued so much so that I can’t wait for its finale. The first four episodes did a fantastic job of bringing its players into this new world, getting them invested, and sending them off on their own to decide what kind of Batman they want to be. If its previous episodes are anything like what we have in store for us in the finale, than its going to be a great one.
While this is the weakest episode in Batman’s Telltale series yet, my investment in the unpredictable, multi-layered plot hasn’t wavered, thanks to the critical state of each of Bruce Wayne’s relationships. Episode four’s first act felt like it was just filling in time for the season finale, but some conflicts have still been built upon, including showcasing how the people of Gotham are reacting to the intense political climate. I’m still excited to jump into the season finale - especially to see the consequence of the series’ weightiest decision.
A solid enough penultimate episode, but the overall quality of this series hinges on how Telltale brings the threads together to finish it.
The usual video and audio issues are present, but that’s to be expected at this point. Again, the issues are minor, but still able to take you out of the plot here and there. The music is still on point, with a heavier focus on Dark Knight-style tracks.
