It’s not without its issues, but Battlefield 2042 is off to a fantastic start for DICE’s beloved series. All-Out Warfare modes are immersive, Hazard Zone is enjoyable while Battlefield Portal steals the show. There’s a lot to love here, and I’m excited to see where the game goes.
If you can get past that idea, then you really ought to jump into Battlefield 2042 now, especially at its discounted price across digital storefronts. Who knows? EA might surprise us by announcing Season 7, given the game’s re-emergence.

Portal is where the game starts to get its groove back and honestly, it’s where DICE should have really doubled down on entirely. Portal is a new mode in Battlefield where you can create custom games using elements from previous Battlefield games like 1942, Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3. In my opinion, especially with all of the bugs, you should save your money on this one or wait until a heavily discounted sale. Maybe in a year or so they’ll iron out some of the issues that plagued its release and work on the “fun factor”, but it just isn’t there right now for this reviewer to feel comfortable recommending it to our readers or friends.
It’s playable, but the game does have a lot of setbacks. The dialogue and sound are just horrible, or it might be plagued with bad mechanics.
