Professional reviews from gaming critics
Overall, Century: Age of Ashes is a great objective combat-based game for those looking to have exciting dog fights. But like most online multiplayer games the enjoyment will always be swayed by teammates and opponents. Both those that tank a match or absolutely dominate may sour the experience. And if the population doesn’t explode there may eventually be no accessible game at all.
Century: Age of Ashes combines a great mix of ideas for an approachable, fun free-to-play game.
When I first started playing Century: Age of Ashes, my son asked me to describe it. It’s an aerial combat game but In most aerial combat games, I have shields, targeting computers, and a basic level of control over my vehicle. In Century: Age of Ashes, I have a dragon who doesn’t have a computer, a shield, or the ability to be totally reined in. Century is a really fun game but the learning curve is really steep.
If you enjoy flight-based combat then Century: Age of Ashes' online multiplayer battles may find a welcome home in your gaming library.
All in all I’ve found myself disappointed with Century: Age of Ashes. There is a fairly solid central PvP F2P game here but nothing to make it stand out aside from the presentation. The modes are basic and repetitive and levelling up takes so long it seems set to encourage spending real money on cosmetic upgrades. On the surface this looked like the game my teenage self dreamed of, but like most teenage dreams, this mainly results in sore wrists and a feeling of shame and disappointment.
