Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Visions of Four Heroes Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Visions of Four Heroes is a new standard for post-game DLC, as it adds four superb scenarios, many challenging battles, and expands upon the beloved tale of the Three Kingdoms.
Dynasty Warriors has always focused on Shu, Wu, Wei, and Jin, but the "Other" factions have always been my favorite. For two decades, I have waited for the chance to join the campaign alongside Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Lu Bu. Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a great DLC that is worth its asking price, offering engaging, enhanced, and expanded combat. The narrative alone makes the DLC worth it.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a solid expansion to the great game that was Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
While Visions of Four Heroes largely offers more of the same Dynasty Warriors: Origins action, it's not exactly a bad thing. The four new stories presented here have lots of exciting battles to play through, and there are some new features such as Strategic Battles and additional weapons to make things feel somewhat fresh.
This story DLC of four "what if" mini campaign arcs provide a decent reason to revisit Dynasty Warriors: Origins if you enjoyed its moment to moment gameplay, though its closed off nature does make the whole experience a bit hollow at its core.
After successfully reinvigorating the franchise formula with last year’s Dynasty Warriors: Origins, I was eager to see where Omega Force and Koei Tecmo would go next with the series and whether we’d see an “Xtreme Legends” expansion similar to past games. While it may not share the same XL name, the newly-released Visions of Four Heroes DLC is certainly XL in spirit, offering more than just a bonus cluster of campaigns for players to hack and slash their way through.
