Occasionally, a game comes along that takes off in a way that defies all expectations, breaking into the mainstream consciousness, enveloping pop culture and audiences worldwide. Fortnite is one of those experiences. With two disparate game options, a plethora of llamas, and unlimited replayability, Epic Games is leading the charge in an era that promises to redefine what it means to be a live-service game. While both modes are enjoyable solo, they are far better with friends.
Against all odds, a confusing building system from a different game makes for thrilling, tactical battle royale combat.
When you mix Fallout 4’s sanctuary builder and third-person zombie wave defense, you get Epic Games’ delight creation, Fortnite. Not only does this 4-player cooperative experience handle smoothly with tight controls and a fun atmosphere, it also offers an endless loot train to pilfer from as you race to save the world.
The PowerA Advantage Controller brings pro-controls and so many styles to choose from, all for under $39.99. That’s a pretty hard deal to beat.
Fortnite is still in Early Access but I have to say that it has more polish than a lot of games that have officially released. The balanced mix of combat, exploration, construction, and cooperation all work together to create a really enjoyable experience. If you don’t mind throwing down for an Early Access title I highly recommend picking up Fortnite which is available now. If you’re the more cautious type then get excited because Fortnite will be a free to play title upon official relea...
Fortnite on Switch 2 fixes all glaring — and not so glaring — issues with the Switch 1 version of the game. This is a huge package of activities; from battle royale to survival game, racing, creative modes, music festivals, and more besides. It's a lot, and it now runs at 60fps with crisp, clean resolutions all round. Mouse mode controls are a revelation, loading times are hugely improved, graphics look very nice indeed, thanks, and, well, I reckon this is now the best way to play this one, regardless of a slight downgrading in visuals.
Although some of the gameplay elements need to be simplified, on the whole Fortnite offers a fun, varied, and fast paced multiplayer experience.
