Gunman Clive 2 Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Gunman Clive 2 doesn't last long, as the initial playthrough takes less than two hours, but it's such a consistent, entertaining ride that length isn't a major issue. It feels like a full experience and the end only left me wanting more. Gunman Clive 2 is a fantastic 2D platformer that improves upon the original in just about every single way.
Gunman Clive 2 has a few problems that newer gamers may have issues with, but this retro fan is more than satisfied. The $2.99 pricepoint is the cherry on top of this delicious platforming dessert.
Gunman Clive 2 catches you off-guard with its wild trajectory and quiet sense of humor. It begins as an old-school shooter with a western slant, and while it never completely abandons that premise, you quickly find yourself flying through the air, riding in mine carts, and leaping from the backs of brontosauruses.
A throwback to the early West and early video games, with all of the nonsensical adventure it needs to be pleasing.
The biggest problem with Gunman Clive 2 is that for all the attempts to expand on the original game’s formula, it remains a very limited game. It’s not just that it’s over quickly, but it doesn’t do anything to really make it something memorable. It’s fun, it’s not much more than that, but that might well be enough to give it a go.
