Despite the aforementioned hitches none of them fatally tarnished our overall impression of Heaven's Vault. Among adventure games it is extraordinary, but among games in general it is a breath of fresh air. It is a rare game with a healthy respect for the player's inquisitiveness, rewarding your curiosity with a unique world and a story that blooms like a rose. We would love to experience this anew, but here's hoping Inkle has more such surprises in store.
Unravel the past in this ace archaeology adventure.
It takes less than 10 hours to complete a single run of Heaven’s Vault, so playing it again to uncover more words in Ancient and try out different dialog choices or major game-changing decisions is very feasible. Additionally, New Game+ allows you to keep your confirmed Ancient translations if you so choose. But you’re not really playing the exact same game again. Although history repeats itself, there are always different choices leading up to history’s major events causing them to be different, either in subtle or blatant ways. Heaven's Vault manages to make me look forward to learning a new language, which is something I honestly never thought a game could do.
Heaven's Vault was nominated for many awards since its 2019 release date. So naturally, I was expecting great things. While this isn’t my usual “cup of tea,

The relationship between Aliyah and Six is realistic and fun to see where it goes, and the environments and world building featured are top notch. If any of this caught your attention that may be a sign that you should be heading out to do some archaeology amongst th…
Heaven's Vault is a slow, captivating game about deciphering a long lost language through context clues and what you already know... and talking, a lot of talking. A stunning art style and an amazing soundtrack aren't all this game offers—you are an archaeologist/philologist and have to figure things out yourself, with a bit of help.
This is the latest instalment from Inkle (best known for 80 Days and the Sorcery! series) and is available on Steam ($35.95) and PS4 ($32.95). On reflection,
A markedly different approach to adventure gaming; while it won’t be for everyone, Heaven’s Vault will undoubtedly attract a cult following.
A fascinating, fantastical world let down by plodding pacing.
Heaven’s Vault is the latest game from 80 Days studio Inkle. Unlike series like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, it’s an archaeology game where you actually do archaeology.
