Hunter's Legacy Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
A minimalist playthrough from start to finish proves a medium-length experience, but if one wants to find all the secrets and pathways and locations, Hunter’s Legacy becomes a really immersive proposition, one that rivals even AAA RPG titles. The price of the game is highly reasonable given how fun it is and the extent of the content. According the developers there are further games planned in the “Universe of Something” series, and I, for one, am excited and expectant for their next title.
Metroidvania adventures can be very addictive when they're done right. Thankfully, Hunter's Legacy is a rewarding experience featuring challenging gameplay that'll put your 2D gaming skills to the test so let's sharpen our claws and get ready for one tough journey.
With its weak game world, Hunter's Legacy doesn't deliver on its MetroidVania promise, but it does provide for a solid platformer with some really fun puzzles.
If this game sounds like a challenge, I can assure you that it is. If you're looking for a difficult game and nothing else, Hunter's Legacy delivers in the end. Parts of it are fun, but so much of the game feels like a missed opportunity, especially in terms of its plot, characterization, and world-building. The relentless gameplay near the end does nothing to redeem Hunter's Legacy from what it's ultimately missing.
Hunter’s Legacy is another platformer in a sea of platformers. Some of the puzzles are clever, going beyond jumping around to involve intriguing elements, but otherwise not much about it stands out from the crowd.
