When the issues of a game are rolled and stomped by its greatness, then it’s something to invest on if you have some spare.
Total War meets turn-based meets vampires. That’s the bold claim Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars sold itself on. As someone who appreciates bold claims in a genre that is so often stagnate, I was intrigued. Total War is my favorite strategy franchise, I love a good turn-based game, and vampires are just cool. A land ruled by vampires doesn't sound like a land any regular human would want to live in: getting worked to the bone to satisfy these immortal masters only to get discarded later on is hardly the recipe of a happy and prosperous life. However, things are not always so grim, judging from Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars, a strategy game that does a lot of things right and tries to spice up the traditional strategy game experience with some unique mechanics that work surprisingly well.
Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is a dark and bloody turn based strategy that hits the mark with lore, artwork, story, and music. The battles can use some work with not only making maps a bit bigger to give more strategic choices, but also the difficulty that ramps up significantly. The addition of cards in battle is quite fun, but lackluster on the map. But if you’re a fan of vampires, I think you’ll enjoy IR. Immortal Realms is currently on Steam for $39.99.

While plenty of games have featured the legendary vampire Dracula, few have delved into the logistics of maintaining his dominion over the human mortals. Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is a strategy game where you play as one of three distinct vampire clans as you take over human villages, drain them of blood like cattle, and fend off invaders. It has some novel ideas for a strategy game, but many rough edges as well.
