Experience a unique psychological horror game where the truth will be revealed as you solve puzzles and read notes left by others. Dodge a few jump scares and what is left is a superb story about the prison you awake in, no memory of how you got there, and the fight to find out what is really going on.

Horror feels as though it has been heading on a downwards spiral for a while. With the release of Inmates we see whether the next batch of horror games can revive the genre.

Inmates had ambitious intentions and a few good ideas, but these were not executed well at all. Fear and thrills were extinguished by the questionable ‘shaking head’ effect and the game’s puzzles remained overly simplistic and did not feel challenging or rewarding to complete. In addition, I encountered a number of bugs that stopped me from progressing, at points. While this game may be attractively short for some, I cannot recommend the experience.

The scariest thing about Inmates is its lack of a sprint button.

If you know me at all, you know I’m a big horror fan. I’ve got a shirt that just says ‘horror’, I’ve got a Silent hill 2 tattoo, and I pretty much exclusively watch horror films. So, psychological horror games? My thing.  And Inmates is a psychological horror set within a prison. The premise sounded interesting, so I dove in ready to get my spook on.
