Kung Fury: Street Rage Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Kung Fury: Street Rage ends up being a decent distraction from other major retail releases in short bursts, but is severely hampered by the lack of modes and overall repetitiveness of it all. What can be said is how Hello There definitely put in the work to show adoration for the 80’s with a authentically crafted look into what made that era great. Street Rage is fun in short gameplay sessions, but its a game no one really needs to own unless you’re a big fan of the movie.
You might have watched the movie. Now maybe play the game!
Kung Fury: Street Rage is not a perfect experience, but for £3.29 it could be worth it for those willing to attempt to gain the top spot on the leaderboards. If you love classics like Streets of Rage or Double Dragon and long for the arcade cabinet experience of the past, Kung Fury could be what you’re looking for, but its short length, frustrating mechanics and lack of variety really hold it back. What there is, I suspect, has turned out just as developers HelloThere AB intended, but whether that’s for the best or not is, I think, a very personal choice.
There really isn't much to say about Kung Fury: Street Rage, other than that it can be a fun little distraction to sink your free time into. The game sees you take control of Kung Fury as he wallops, kicks, and shoots an endless wave of Nazi goons, racking up combos and points as he does so. You'll encounter a rather limited selection of enemies in your quest to beat the ever living snot out of people, from pesky footsoldiers to emotionless killer robot thingies.
A throwback to a retro classic, dripping with untapped potential.
