Lifeless Planet delivers a distinguished story and great scenery to enjoy your journey to the end of it. Just don't go in expecting anything more than a story and walking.
Lifeless Planet begins with a take-off from Earth, followed by a landing on a mysterious planet. It’s clear in the opening moments that something has gone wrong as you scramble to find oxygen and stay alive. You explore a large desert area, but the game offers no guidance or waypoints leading you to the oxygen. This desperate beginning sets the tone for the isolating adventure about to unfold, but also showcases some of its distracting limitations.
It certainly pulled me through, anyway, marvelling at the gentle cues strung through such a seemingly roomy world, pondering the strange integrity of a game that's at its best when it's kicked itself free of genre, of easy pigeonholes, of combat loops and of so many of the other things that games seem to feel they need in order to keep you happy. Lifeless Planet is bold and memorable and oddly sweet in the earnestness of its message and its preoccupations. It's a truly efficient payload. Fire it up and be transported.
When a one-way trip to a theoretically life-sustaining planet falls short of initial expectations, it's up to you to find the truth behind the mysteries that now present themselves on the planet. An adventure platformer depicting the mental stress and endurance of an astronaut as he seeks out the purpose of his mission and the things he sees before him. Everything you need to know about the game can be found right here!

While its crude looks and disparate gameplay elements can make for a spartan experience, there’s still something bizarrely compelling about Lifeless Planet: Premiere Edition. There’s nothing particularly remarkable about its occasional platforming and simple environmental puzzle solving - and its story never truly offers the payoff its mysteries set in place - but you’ll still enjoy the short time you spend with it. An ambitious little curio, even four years after its original release, but one that sets its sights a little too high for its own good.
Lifeless Planet tells an intriguing story with a compelling mystery that is worth experiencing. As a game, Lifeless Planet could have used more polish to tighten up the controls and physics as well as some judicious editing that would have made it a really good game. Instead, what is there is simply average and that’s a shame.
Lifeless Planet delivers a brief adventure just about worth taking, but it doesn't offer enough technically or say enough thematically, despite the odd flourish on both counts.
