Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 will feature Pac, Spiral and Cylindria in an all-new storyline as they defend PacWorld from the ghoulish army of Lord Betrayus.
Pac-Man is a classic video game character, recognised alongside other greats such as Mario, Sonic, and Donkey Kong. The origins of these heroes have all helped to shape the gaming world as we know it today – but how is Bandai Namco’s famous bubble biter remaining relevant in this day and age? Well, after sprouting arms and legs, the fellow’s latest but not greatest title is Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2, a sequel to the game based on the Disney XD television show of the same name.
Unfussy, non-cynical younglings will wring some enjoyment from Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2, and initially, the game seems like a dose of sunny, uncomplicated fun. The odd difficulty spike, instance of slowdown and control issue chucks more than a couple of flies into the ointment, making Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 a platformer that's difficult to heartily recommend. It's not bad, but it's not great either.
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 is a lackluster 3D platformer that offers nothing new or outstanding to the genre. The abilities you find offer some variety from stage to stage, but it’s not enough to make up for the dull presentation and uninspiring gameplay.
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 takes a baby step forward from last year’s game, but more time and effort might have yielded a better game that takes a few more chances. That is not to say it is a bad game. It simply comes across as decidedly average and without an ideal target audience. Platformer fans will no doubt find some fun to be had here, but there are better examples of the genre out there, and it’s disappointing to see that there wasn’t more done to improve on the good start this fledgling series offered.
