Pneumata is an ambitious first-person horror game considering it's made a by a solo developer. But while it looks rather nice and succeeds in creating a tense atmosphere, there are numerous issues that ultimately bring it down considerably.
Pneumata fleshes out the horror experience by giving you limited resources and storage. You must find ways to overcome enemies or avoid them as you accomplish your objectives. Save files don’t always work as intended and navigation is a nightmare. Even though this game succeeds with the atmosphere, what’s scarier is the quality of everything else.

Pneumata is an upcoming game from game developer Deadbolt Interactive. Back in September 2023, they gave us access to the demo. Originally, Deadbolt Interactive scheduled to release the game on Halloween, 2023. That date proved optimistic as the game’s release ended up being pushed back a year after the demo was available. So it’s September, 2024 and Deadbolt, a small indie team is now ready to release the game. Have they used the extra time to good use?
Pneumata takes inspiration from Resident Evil but completely forgets what makes these games entertaining. While it initially showed potential, this bloated survival horror is immensely unfun.
