Overall, Rabi-Ribi is one of the first real surprises of the year for me. I was originally extremely off-put by the cutesy presentation, and didn’t go in with particularly high hopes. While the story was unfortunately disappointing, everything else about the game really stood out and created an excellent experience.
It's hard to take a game that stars scantily clad anthropomorphic bunnies seriously. That being said, Rabi-Ribi is a solid Metroidvania title that provides some exciting 2D action so let's hop straight to the review.

The music and sound in Rabi-Ribi are more than exceptional. The game is full of retro sounds, meaning there are plenty of bleeps and bloops to satisfy even the most nostalgic player. The best part of the sound, however, is the music. The chiptune soundtrack is full of memorable and catchy tunes, many of which feel inspired by music you’d hear in Sega Genesis or Dreamcast games. It’s a remarkable soundtrack, and one that’s worth listening to even after you’ve finished the game.
You know that dream you have where you’re a bunny rabbit who mysteriously gets turned into a cute human girl? Eh? Oh, just us then? But imagine the fun you could have as a literal bunny girl with kick ass battle powers. Yeah, that’s Rabi-Ribi.
Rabi-Ribi is a fun game and I had a great time exploring the levels, collecting abilities, and developing my character. I had an even greater time putting my thumbs to the test with the addictive and unforgiving boss battles. Unfortunately, for a game to be truly great, the full package needs to shine, and that is not the case with Rabi-Ribi. While gameplay and is engaging and well-designed, the visuals, story, and audio are all lacking, and no amount of bullets can ever make me turn my head to those flaws.
