Rad Rodgers: World One is finally out, and it does a lot of things correctly. Simple controls, fun mechanics, and a beautiful environment await any who wish to step into World One and relive some 90s nostalgia.

While it may seem strange for those who started gaming recently, there was a time when platform games flooded the market, and many of them managed to be successful despite having similar features. The Commodore Amiga 500 era was particularly full of platform games featuring a similar premise: a young boy finding himself thrown into a mysterious, yet exciting world needing to be saved and filled with dangers and wonders. In this regard as well as many others, Interceptor's Rad Rodgers: World One is a clear callback to this era, where simple platform games were all it took to make players happy.

As a whole, Rad Rodgers: World One is a pretty solid platformer. The game doesn’t really do anything new, but it does a lot of things really well. If you focus on just beating the story, it’ll be a short two- to three-hour experience. By modern standards, it feels like the price tag of £8.99 is a little steep for such a short game, but it does focus on collectibles, so if you’re into that sort of thing, this game has a lot more gameplay to offer. As the credits say, Rad will return, so the developers have a lot of time and feedback to work with for World Two. The series has a lot of potential,...

As for whether or not you should grab Rad Rodgers: World One, I’d say give it a go. It may not be the second coming of retro gaming or an outright classic, but it does still have the potential. If Interceptor Entertainment can make this a success, I have a feeling that the eventual World Two and beyond will iron out all of the bugs and turn this adventure into a must play for old-school fans.
