Rain
Rain is a short surrealist, experiemental game. This was a week long project that started from the 3 hour game jam with the theme: Rain. It's an experiment in trying out a different art style that would suit my skills. It's also a personal game, where I tried to figure out my own personality and translate that into different aspects of the game. ...

It will be hard to forget your trip onto these rainy streets perhaps, but it may prove equally tricky to remember what you actually did when you were there.
It’s not the longest game either; two solid evenings of play (with a glass of red wine to set the mood, naturally), and you’ll be able to work through the eight chapters. The experience is also very linear which hurts its replay value. Inevitably some players will jump up and complain about not getting value for money or some such (even though it’s a cheap game from the outset), but were Rain to be any longer its themes would start to drag. A bit like poetry, really, it’s a rare example indeed that can maintain the reader’s interest for hours on end. The theme of Rain is also dense a…
Rain has the same ethereal quality as ICO. Much like Fumito Ueda’s masterpiece, this is a muted experience, orchestrated only by the sound of running water and composer Yugo Kanno’s twinkly score. It’s also a tale of boy meets girl, where two kindred spirits connect under the starlight of a sodden dream world. But does the soggy excursion make the same kind of splash as its PlayStation 2 count...
rain is an action adventure game that tells the enchanting tale of a boy who chases after a girl with an invisible silhouette.
A unique, if somewhat disappointing title from a development team you should definitely keep an eye on.When Rain was announced at Gamescom 2012 I couldn't help but get a bit excited. The last C.A.M.P. [...]
“If atmosphere alone could make a game, Rain would be a success. Unfortunately it is not.”
If Rain didn't exist in the same space as games like Braid, Limbo, or Bastion, perhaps some of the shortcomings could be forgiven. But the fact is that it’s no longer enough for a game to simply get by on its art direction alone. Compelling gameplay and plot, if that’s what the game is shooting for, need to be present as well. That’s not to take anything away from Rain’s uncanny ability to use its aesthetic and the constant rainfall to create a perfectly melancholic mood that few games could. It also manages to deliver a few moments of genuine tension. But the under-cooked mechanics and narrat...
