Rogue Wizards Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Rogue Wizards is a fantastic roguelike dungeon crawler that delivers fun and challenging gameplay with a mildly interesting story. The gauntlet mode provides a lot of replay value and although the game has some issues, the attention to detail enhances the simple yet strategic gameplay to a real gem of an indie game.
Rogue Wizards, created by Spellbind Studios, is a Dungeon Crawler RPG packed with monsters, loot, and town building. In the world of Rilfanor, the Elam's magic is slowly disappearing for unknown reasons and the Banlit, who never had any magical ability before, are suddenly gaining power they never had. Rilfanor is changing, and no one knows why; it's time for you to find out.
In summary, Rogue Wizards is a great game, even if it is marred by a flat story and an almost game-defining series of difficulty spikes. Fortunately, the game manages to avoid this unflattering label by instead defining itself through its predominately tremendous gameplay, tense moments of apprehensive combat, and a simple yet aesthetically pleasing visual design. Fans of the genre should definitely give Rogue Wizards a play, as it will without a doubt scratch that dungeon-crawling itch. Even individuals who have never particularly given the genre much attention should also consider giving it ...
Rogue Wizards is a solid casual roguelike with unique monster designs, perpetually generated dungeons and 10-12 hours of story-mode gameplay. Dungeons themselves are challenging and fun, requiring a bit strategy to defeat monsters which utilize truly unique and interesting attacks. While the boss battles and AI are a little lackluster, the ability to teleport within floors, bonuses for defeating all enemies, and the replayability offered by the Gauntlet mode make Rogue Wizards a good investment for the small price tag of $15.
