Wizard of Legend offers an extremely enjoyable battle system and many customization options, all presented with great pixel art and enjoyable sound design. While the lack of variety in environments and enemies is a big downside, Wizard of Legend plays like a charm and makes you want to come back for more.

Wizard of Legend is a phenomenally fun roguelike that succeeds in all the areas it needs to. Underneath a graphically pleasing veneer sits a meticulously crafted game with a fun combat system and intricate class building. Contingent99 really did something special here.

Stepping into the museum for the first time was like entering Disneyland. Your character wraps themselves in a colored cloak as they take their first tentative steps into the museum, alongside dozens of other excited patrons keen on seeing the artifacts and arcana of the wizards of yore. There are so many great indie roguelites that it's almost becoming obscene. But that doesn't change the fact that Wizard of Legend is simply great fun, with an awesome couch co-op mode, and loads of replay value. Its difficulty can spike at odd times, and some spells seem utterly useless. But beyond that, there's just a lot of fireball hurling mayhem to be had as you try to pass the trials.

Running through procedurally generated dungeons as a magic-casting wizard who moves like a ninja sounds pretty awesome. However, does Wizard of Legend provide a satisfying roguelike dynamic? Crack open a spell book and let's find out.

I want to love Wizard of Legend. It‘s a fun, fastpaced beat-em-up with lots of replay value, gorgeous pixel art, and an incredibly deep combat system. But the frame skipping I encountered made playing it an exercise in frustration. If the issue is ever sorted out, I’ll give it a more enthusiastic recommendation. For now, I just wish it played more smoothly.
