What do you get when you mix a fun hack-and-slash dungeon crawler with adorable designs? Marvelous' Silent Hope aims to find that answer, just don't ask anything of the Princess.

Silent Hope takes some time to get started but provides a solid dungeon-crawling experience. Seven heroes gives you a variety of playstyles and you have several options for customisation. Base management gives you something to look forward to even if the pace is slow. It’s a good mix that makes dungeon exploration fun without getting repetitive too soon.

Silent Hope is an outstanding dungeon crawler and one of the few on the market that are easy to recommend for players either burned by prior games or who are completely new to the genre. Having so many different kinds of characters to play as keeps every run fresh and encourages the player to not only keep trying with another run, but do so with a different character with every failure to see if their outcome changes. It controls wonderfully across the board with responsive button commands and accurate stick movements. It looks good enough too, with a consistent framerate...

Silent Hope is a simple, yet addicting action RPG that runs beautifully on the Steam Deck with no compromises.

At the end of the day, how you feel about Silent Hope will depend on how big a fan of classic isometric dungeon crawlers you are. At it’s heart it’s a pure experience that encourages experimentation and learning a variety of playstyles, but this comes at the cost of all the extra bells and whistles.

Since it was released, Diablo 3 has reigned as the top of my most-played titles on Nintendo Switch. I’m a loot fiend, hopelessly obsessed with finding bits and bobs. Being able to lounge in bed with a cup of coffee to one side and the fan blowing on my person on the other is just a heavenly, no, orgasmic experience. Since that fateful day in 2018, a slew of impersonators have come out, attempting so badly to emulate that formula. I gobbled each one up, too. Some manage to nail it, but there...

Silent Hope is a fun time-sink if you enjoy dungeon-crawling RPGs, but the entertainment only lasts for a short time when the game offers a mostly repetitive, bland experience

I liked Silent Hope, I want to make that very clear. But there are some design decisions that I really struggled to make peace with. The class system being so isolated and individualist is a struggle for me when changing classes could have been a pivotal and enjoyable piece of the gameplay loop is instead just a mechanic that exists. Instead of making enemies more difficult they primarily just have their health increased and the stages of the layer longer, that didn’t vibe with me at all. That said, there’s a lot of good in Silent Hope as well. Advanced...

From XSEED Games and Marvelous, taking place in the Rune Factory universe comes Silent Hope, an isometric action RPG dungeon-crawler. The adorable visuals, gorgeous character design and sound are lovely, giving an engaging fantasy anime ambience. Along with some recognizable elements from Rune Factory like woolies and those familiar cows, Silent Hope is cuteness overload. Though overall, a little lacking.

Silent Hope is a great time. The premise is interesting despite not always delivering on it 100%. However, the gameplay loop is engaging with a good amount of depth and planning. Deliberating on how to best prepare and proceed is rewarding. Skill isn't thrown to the wayside for an over-reliance on RNG elements either, which is welcome. What you end up getting a neat and fun title to enjoy at your own pace. Although, I do see some getting burned out on the gameplay loop. This game offers a sol...

If you are looking for a cozy sim where you farm potatoes and occasionally fight monsters, it might be best to pass on Silent Hope, but if you are a fan of dungeon crawls, adorable art, and brutal boss fights, this is a must-have. While not as gritty or dark as Hades, I found myself experiencing the same satisfaction while playing, and I am already thinking about how to buff characters out differently for my next playthrough.

If you find yourself gravitating towards exploring dungeons more than farming in Rune Factory then you might want to check out Silent Hope which is a modern dungeon crawler from the same developer.

Silent Hope starts out being a lot of fun, but you quickly see the peak of its potential—then it constantly pushes you down some valleys and into walls.

I'm sick of praying for sequels to games that didn't quite make the grade, so in this case I'm just going to say that Silent Scope isn't good enough. It lacks replayability, scope (hah!) and it costs £45. If you're happy in the knowledge that you'll be done with this in a day, then by all means buy it, it's a top quality arcade game, but if you want something that will hold your attention, look elsewhere.
