Sludge Life 2 is a second verse that feels much the same as the first, but it's still got a bouncy, vivacious, and utterly unique sound.

SLUDGE LIFE 2 is a weird, enjoyable exploration game with hilarious inhabitants that make it worthwhile. With tweaks, it also runs great on the Steam Deck!

With a sickly world, interesting NPCs, and some truly gruesome humour, Sludge Life 2 succeeds at many of the things it tries. In my short time with the game, I was regularly grossed out and intrigued by everything in front of me. The fact that Sludge Life 2 exists at all is still a pleasant surprise, and both games are experiences worth firing up if you’re looking for something a little less overproduced and something unafraid to just say “Let’s do our own thing and let it loose on the world.” While the sequel doesn’t do anything drastically different, it does enough to justify its existence and is something that’s as competent as its predecessor. For example, there’s rioting going on over the arrest of fellow tagger Uzzi, but all you can do is watch people talk about it. There are *some* side things you can do, like work for a news agency collecting photos of certai...

I didn’t like the original Sludge Life, which I considered to be a dull and tryhardish platformer/adventure hybrid with zero charisma and an underwhelming gameplay loop. It had two positive aspects, though: it was indeed unique (for better or for worse), and it was free. Or at least it was free at first, due to a deal between Devolver Digital and the Epic Games Store. Sludge Life 2, a sequel I can safely assume nobody has ever asked for, doesn’t have these things going for it. It’s not ...
