Space Invaders Forever is a nice celebration of the franchise. Space Invaders Extreme and Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders are both quite fun and could make for great occupation on a long trip or while trying to kill time. They’re quite replayable and offer challenges in a tight package. Space Invaders Gigamax 4 SE is hardly even worth a glance though, and makes the $30.00 price tag a bit hard to justify.

When it comes to retro arcade games, few have stood the test of time as well as Taito's classic static shooter Space Invaders and it's back in a brand new compilation of 3 very interesting and unique games. So, grab a roll of quarters and get shooting!

Also included, is a port of Arkanoid Vs Space Invaders which is a single-player game that seems to be a port of a mobile game due to the touch screen only controls and vertical orientation. This was actually WAY more fun than I expected since I am a big Arkanoid fan. Think Arkanoid with more enemies, but the thing you reflect are the enemy attacks rather than the usual Arkanoid Ball you bounce around in that series. Simple, but a fun little diversion and an excuse to actually use your Switch’s touch screen.

Space Invaders Forever is pretty great for anyone who's a fan of Space Invaders. It offers three games that are very different in approach, one of them with a fresh lick of paint and one focused on local multiplayer for some part cooperative, part competitive Earth defending. It's hard to argue against the variety you get with these three classics.

Space Invaders is a franchise that needs no introduction. If you’re looking for a centralized platform to play these games, the bulk of the titles offered here are fun enough to keep you engaged for quick bouts of alien-blasting action. Would I go out and grab this at full price? No, probably not. But having two solid offerings out of three at a sale price? It’s work a look. Just don’t get your hopes up for multiplayer.

Space Invaders Extreme is awesome, but even in the guise of a cut-down compilation, Space Invaders Forever is lacking as a package. Better titles could have been chosen, and the way the apps are laid out is strange and disconnected. When it drops in price, this will be essential for Extreme alone. If you want Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders, that's available on your phone for a fair price, and better suited to that format in general. The Space Invaders Forever might keep me playing forever between grabbing everything in the Arkanoid game and trying to boost my scores in Extreme. But it’s impossible to ignore what’s been left out to try and get people to shell out for a physical game: you can’t really call it “Forever” when the oldest game of the bunch debuted after I graduated from university.
