Sparkle 2 isn’t going to be a game that you’re going to stay up all night playing, nor is it a game that you’ll call in sick to work for, but it is a game that you won’t be deleting from your hard drive any time soon. It’s the type of thing that you’ll dip into here and there; you’ll find yourself playing it instead of working on that pesky assignment, or blasting away at it instead of that mammoth pile of ironing (although really you should be doing anything but ironing). There’s a treasure in the world of Sparkle 2 that’s so well hidden that nobody has ever been able to find it. Some people have spent their entire lives trying to track it down, going mad in the process. Naturally, the only way of succeeding where others have failed is to match three or more coloured balls across dozens of levels – and it’s still a better archaeological romp than Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

In conclusion, Sparkle 2 is a lot like Sparkle Unleashed, which in turn was a lot like PopCap's Zuma. If you are a fan of this genre of game, then Sparkle 2 has a lot going for it, but it unlikely to convert anyone else to its cause. We found it weirdly addictive, with the "just one more level" effect being very strong, and the usually pretty graphics and reactive music all helping to hook us in.
