Professional reviews from gaming critics
Unfortunately keeping track of your hitbox is still tricky, as it’s just a small colored circle in the center of your ship. At times I was completely surprised I made it out of a mess unscathed, whereas at others I felt like I had dodged successfully.
To sum it up, my original opinion of Super Galaxy Squadron hasn’t changed at all. I still think that while it’s a bit short, it’s definitely a fun SHMUP title that deserves a look at. The rampant destruction, particularly at later levels, feels incredibly satisfying, and anyone who' been dying for some shoot 'em up action on a limited schedule, will find that particular itch scratched. Just keep in mind that Super Galaxy Squadron is a diversion, not a life-changing experience. Despite some bold claims, there's nothing new...
