Super Mario Party Jamboree: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
If you and your chums want to have fun together then here's Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV.
Nintendo knows that gaming is a social activity, but as gaming has moved increasingly online, they haven’t consistently kept pace with changing habits. The Switch 2, though, is the most social Nintendo platform we’ve ever had. GameChat and GameShare are two new features built into the console’s very fabric, bringing family and friends together to play through innovative multiplayer, multi-console streaming and, well, the slightly less timely ability to chat with each other.
The original game remains the best entry in the series but Jamboree TV on its own adds little of value and isn’t worth the upgrade.
Super Mario Party Jamboree arrived late in the original Switch’s life, rekindling our love for chaotic, competitive multiplayer with a couple of Joy-Con split in half and passed around four players. While Switch 2 has continued Nintendo’s multiplayer focus with Mario Kart World, nothing sparks neighbourhood noise complaints quite like a fully committed round of Mario Party.
Outside of the Switch 2 Welcome Tour app, Jamboree TV is the most comprehensive demonstration of the Switch 2’s capabilities we’ve seen yet. The mic, the camera, and the mouse controls are all thoroughly incorporated into the game. I had a harder time with some systems, but I can still grasp what Nintendo is reaching for here. Children and the similarly flexible/exuberant will latch onto the Bowser Live segment, while crustier gamers (such as myself) will appreciate the Carnival Coaster. Honestly, there’s a good chance you’ll love all of it, even if I didn’t. If you’re looking to dive into the...
Super Mario Party Jamboree itself is still fantastic, but the mixed new content of the Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV re-release adds frustrating limitations and strange design decisions to what was otherwise a polished, customizable experience.
Super Mario Party Jambooree was only released last year, so one could argue that such a recent game has the least to gain from a Switch 2 edition. However, Mario Party games have always celebrated the novel control schemes a new console has to offer, so Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV may actually be the perfect game for the Switch 2 touchup. Featuring new minigames, modes, and shareplay, Jamoree TV adds some welcome new content that just might bring you back.
Super Mario Party Jamboree released for Switch late last year to a generally positive reception, and for good reason. The unavoidable frustrations of the typical Mario Party game still exist in Jamboree (it can feel slow and unfair and isn’t particularly fun to play alone), but lots of smart decisions set it apart from the Parties that preceded it. All those good things still exist in the Switch 2 edition of the game, but the additions, though novel, are mostly underwhelming and don’t aut...
Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV offers a few new diversions wrapped in a neat presentation that makes it a compelling enough upgrade for existing owners. But for anyone jumping in at full wack, the slight visual edge and mixed bag of camera-based minigames don’t necessarily make it an essential purchase over the much cheaper and perfectly playable Switch 1 version.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party cranks the party up a notch for an even more memorable evening.

For $20, Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 mode doesn't feel like anything essential. Jamboree is a great Mario Party game already, and the improvements -- including being able to Game Share to other local Switches for multi-screen multiplayer -- might be fun to try.
