Surgeon Simulator 2 Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Bossa Studios took the mayhem of the first game and enhanced it ten-fold. Surgeon Simulator 2 is a blast to play, and even better enjoyed with friends. The unique gameplay, combined with unforgettable co-op experiences and a wholly polished title, makes this game a worthwhile purchase.
Enjoyed hacking a way at poor, helpless souls in the first game? Then check in and see how the evolution fairs in the sequel.
Surgeon Simulator 2 achieves what it sets out to. But it's really for a very specific type of player and many will not appreciate it. As a game, it's often frustrating and tedious, but since that's intentional I can't really fault the developers for expanding on the original in such a manner.
Surgeon Simulator 2 has even less to do with surgery than its predecessor. It's also a much better game.
Another neat feature is the game’s creation mode, allowing you to create your own levels, and play through other players’ creations. As with any user-created content though, the levels I dived into were a real mixed bag; I stumbled into several which seemed to exist only to increase players’ experience. This is more a limitation of the hardware but it can make precise tasks harder than they should be, so it can prove to be a bit frustrating for those used to playing on PC. Another gripe is the fact that not much is done with the ability to move around other than trying to find items for surgery or ID cards to get through doors to the next area. With surgery being by far the most fun and engaging part of the ga...
If you’re patient and enjoy this game genre, you can certainly get a lot of fun out of Surgeon Simulator 2. With loads of unlockables, challenges, and basically unlimited levels, its concept is strong, its wit is impressive, and its style is very enjoyable. But if you’re looking for a tight and unstressful experience, either give the potentially less finicky PC version a try or skip this one altogether. However, it is free with Game Pass, so it’s certainly worth giving a shot for yourself if you subscribe to the service.
