Syndrome is a first-person survival horror game set aboard a derelict starship, where players must sneak past grotesque creatures and steadily work towards repairing the ship's systems. While the game's first half shines thanks to a solid grasp of mood-building and excellent visual design, the experience soon grows tiresome due to excessive backtracking and questionable means of raising the difficulty.

It is a legitimately scary game, but the bugs, bad design choices, bland story, and obnoxious enemies overshadow that. It is hard to tell how much is the game scaring you, and how much is just frustration.
Ever wanted to play a really bad first-person rip-off of Dead Space? No? Then you'll probably want to give Syndrome a pass.
