Tetris Effect: Connected is as essential as it ever was and its PSVR2 debut adds yet more polish and immersive features to what was already the best Tetris game money can buy. I would award Tetris Effect: Connected more than ten out of ten I could, but I can't, so here we are. Buy it.
Tetris Effect: Connected is the definitive Tetris experience to this day. It boasts a plethora of single player and multiplayer modes. There’s something for everyone when it comes to this game.
Perhaps not quite as transcendental as it is in VR, Tetris Effect: Connected remains an incredible, visionary piece of work, that you can now experience with others. With its arrival on Xbox Series X, it can be a game for a new generation.
So yes, Tetris Effect: Connected is still Tetris at its core, but I believe it's so much more than that. It’s a bold visual statement. Its focus on culture and the ability for humans to bond over artificial things such as art, music, science and games shines throughout each of the levels in Journey mode. It elevates Tetris to a level beyond a mere puzzle game for on the train or as a piece of software that sold an old grey handheld system. It understands that Tetris is everywhere and that it is a part of culture. It understands that videogames are a part of our world and shared experiences a…
I'm not sure if I'm comfortable saying that it's my game of the year, but it's easily the shining star of the Xbox Series S|X launch to me. Tetris Effect Connected brings multiple creative, beautiful, and mesmerizing spins to the Tetris formula that anyone with Game Pass owes it to themself to play and try out, especially those who missed the original. Sweetened by its hypnotic, up-tempo soundtrack and pseudo-psychedelic visuals, Tetris has never felt better than in Tetris Effect. Now with a robust multiplayer offering, Tetris Effect Connected allows it to rival Tetris 99 for the spot of my favorite entry in the franchise.
There’s not much else that needs to be said. Tetris Effect: Connected is to this point the best version of Tetris that exists. I adore Tetris99 and up until now, Tetris DS was probably my all-time favourite, but Connected just blows right past both. Outside very very minor quibbles with the slight lag in multiplayer and my disappointment at the missed opportunity for Achievement art, there’s nothing actually wrong with this game. It’s mandatory for Tetris and puzzle game fans, a must for music lovers and anyone who appreciates good visual artistry. But most importantly, it’s just so damn fun. Xbox owners have no excuse not to dive in as Tetris Effect: Connected launched straight into Game Pass and I implore everyone to give it a try.
It’s crazy to say that Tetris, a game from 1984, feels brand new, but with Tetris Effect: Connected and a dash of virtual reality, it really does. The new single players offer a handful of new modes beyond simply trying to set a high score, and the multiplayer provides an ever-expanding set of new ways to play. It’s a worthy addition to the PSVR2 launch lineup.
Tetris Effect: Connected is perhaps the best Tetris will ever be. If you enjoy the classic block puzzle game and like the idea of playing to a backdrop of beautiful audio and visuals, then you’ll absolutely love it. With a huge amount of content, including a truly original multiplayer mode, this really is an incredible game – and it feels right at home in a handheld format. Sorry Tetris 99, you’re not the Switch’s best Tetris game anymore.
The Tetris franchise keeps marching on, with Tetris Effect: Connected landing on the Nintendo Switch. Most everyone knows Tetris. You might even be familiar wit
Tetris Effect: Connected is the ultimate incarnation of Tetris Effect, adding an all-new multiplayer expansion to the single-player modes.
The first Tetris Effect was a fantastic VR experience released back in 2018. I have previously mentioned how difficult it is to make something as pristine and classic as Tetris feel innovative almost forty years after its original release. However, audiovisual madman Tetsuya Mizuguchi achieved just that, with a new take on the Tetris formula meant to enhance the senses, bombarding the player with trippy visuals and a soundtrack that changed depending on your actions. There was just one proble...
Tetris Effect Connected was announced for Xbox Series X back in July, brining Tetris Effect to the console and adding multiplayer in the process. While Xbox faithful mightn’t have realised what that really meant, PC and PlayStation users were likely grinning ear-to-ear and saying, “welcome to the party.”
A modern puzzle game masterpiece keeps coming back for more so let's explore the latest iteration with Tetris Effect: Connected PSVR2.
To review any iteration of Tetris isn’t so much based on the game itself, which is about as iconic as any game (puzzle or otherwise) can be, but rather what
36-years after the original Tetris was released comes the Tetris Effect Connected and no, I would not have thought this would be a next-gen release title on
