Though you might balk at the idea of playing a traditional point and click game in 2015, there’s something beautiful about this classic formula at work here. Like dusting down a Dickens tome rather than reading Game of Thrones on a Kindle, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 feels like settling down with a mug of tea and crumpet, or a pint of brown ale and a pie while the rain pounds down on the window. It’s a comforting reminder that video games can still hark back to their traditional roots a...

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a continuation 2009’s The Book of Unwritten Tales While never having played the first one, the humor in the launch trailer quickly snagged my interest. Wish lush graphics, a fun soundtrack, and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 was a blast despite the point-and-click genre not being one of my favorites.

If you’re a fan of point and click games, you will not be disappointed with what The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 has to offer you. With a staggering 25-30 hours of gameplay, fully voiced characters, excellent soundtrack, great visuals and incessant hilarity (that may or may not warrant the odd groan) there really is very little to complain about here. The lack of touchscreen controls on Switch is a gripe, but there’s no overlooking the fact that The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 remains one of the best point-and-click adventure games of recent years.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is an enjoyable game at its budget price, with a pleasing mix of adventure, humour and some head scratching puzzles. There are some negative points which stop the game from being a fully fledged win, but it is still an enjoyable and nostalgic experience for any gamer with a love of point-and-click styled experiences.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a pretty well-made point-and-click adventure game. Unfortunately, there were some bizarre design choices made and the odd bug that hinder the experience. However, if you don't mind point-and-click games, like solving some interesting puzzles and some quirky comedy thrown in, there aren't many better alternatives than The Book of Unwritten Tales 2.

The most recent instalment in the series, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a whimsical point and click adventure title developed by King Art Games. Though the release is centred around the typical core mechanics of the genre – that is to say, you'll be interacting with the environment, objects, and characters in order to overcome various obstacles and tasks – its iteration on the PlayStation 4 sees you take advantage of a somewhat alternative control scheme.

Point-and-click adventures were really popular in the 90’s and while they’ve mostly faded from the limelight, there are still a few around for those that enjoy this type of genre. As a 90’s kid, this genre holds a special place in my heart, although I do understand that it’s not for everyone. There is a delicate balance needed between an engaging story and cohesive interactions with the objects on screen in order to have a truly successful point-and-click style adventure. The Book of ...

Severely lacking in originality; Doesn't restrict itself when poking fun at fantasy tropes.
