Even if some of Urban Myth Dissolution Center's mysteries are rather straightforward to solve, the overall experience is still reasonably enjoyable to amble through. If you're looking for a more laid-back occult mystery, it's here, but don't expect the myths to be too legendary.

All in all, it’s tough for me to pin down my feelings regarding Urban Myth Dissolution Center. Between its sumptuous pixel art, vibrant personalities and unabashed nerdiness, it’s a game that I admire a lot. (I haven’t even mentioned the music and sound design, which perfectly sell the game’s paranoid atmosphere.) If you like psychological horror, thrillers, mysteries, and the atmosphere of ghost stories, you’ll enjoy Urban Myth Dissolution Center. If you prefer your games to have actual gameplay beyond gathering and assembling information, you probably won’t. But please give this title a shot just for the sheer experience of playing it. It’s an unsettling gem.

Mysteries, individual cases, and the overarching story are both exciting and satisfying. I was pretty upset by where the story went but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Even just replaying the opening scene, I was immediately shown the breadcrumbs for what the story would become. Impressive, really.

Urban Myth Dissolution Center is a thrilling visual novel that uses its gameplay to the fullest effect. By putting the player in Azami’s shoes, the detective mechanics feel more immersive. Interviewing people, scrolling through social media and bringing everything together through hypotheses is a strong point of the game. The visuals also add a lot.
