Wildcat Gun Machine is a twin-stick shooter for the Nintendo Switch. It can also be filed neatly under the “bullet hell” category since this is a game that
Wildcat Gun Machine is an interesting take on roguelike and bullet hell games, but the roguelike aspects feel a bit lacking, especially the story. The game looks and sounds great, but a lot of the time I kind of felt like I was just going room to room, fighting enemies, and then going back to the checkpoint, which mitigates a bit of the challenge. With its rad techno soundtrack and grotesque enemy designs, it has a lot going for it, however the lack of narrative context to motivate the player and shallow, limited gameplay holds it back from the excellent experience it might have been.
While Wildcat Gun Machine sounds like the name of a metal band you'd expect to be an opening act for Ozzfest, it's actually a chaotic bite-sized shooter that feels as if the developers of Cat Quest took their turn at creating the next Doom. With lasers, monsters, and a healthy stock of cat lives, Wi
