A wonderfully well-written piece of work with beautiful environments and a near-AAA promise but falls a little short in combat and gameplay.

Those stories that were told to you as kids about the three little pigs, Jack and the beanstalk, Pinocchio, and – of course – Little Red Riding Hood, have stuck around in today’s modern world in some form or fashion, including video-game interpretations. Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is an interpretation of the French fairy tale, depicting a fearless Little Red Riding Hood as she embarks on a vendetta across a rich fantasy setting.
Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries has a lot of great ideas but horrible executes them. While visually well-made, it best serves as a primer on how not to adapt fairy tales for mature audiences, especially in light of the work done by American McGee.
Overall Woolfe – The Red Hood Diaries gives a great deal of darkness to its story and hack n’ slash action of Red Riding Hood avenging his beloved father’s death. But despite how lifeless and inexpressive the characters are, the fascinating details and magical-themed levels with its dark fantasy musical score were able to make The Red Hood Diaries stand out to show that the game is still great. I was still fascinated with its dark story and how it was written. Woolfe – The Red Hood Diaries is a fairytale that needs to be noticed by Red Riding Hood’s fans.
Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries needed a bit more work before being released. There are bugs that need addressing within the game, and the combat itself is not that satisfying, especially when coupled with the poor hit detection. The short length of the game doesn’t allow the story to get going properly, with the end coming just as things get interesting. All the problems do detract from what could have been a fun re-imagining of a classic tale.
