If subtlety was a person, I’m pretty sure the Agents of Mayhem would tell them to “suck it”. It flies its flag of in-your-face attitude with pride and does it so well, that you can almost forgive it for making really lame jokes about things like Uranus. If you’re looking for some unadulterated adult fun, then I recommend becoming an Agent of Mayhem today.
Early on in the game’s story, Kiryu’s friend Nishiki proclaims that a Yakuza is only as good as his image. It’s a shallow but understandable perspective given the context but it’s a sentiment that Yakuza 0 thankfully does not echo. It’s a game that not only has impeccable style but also a wealth of substance. When it all comes down to it, what I really enjoyed about Yakuza 0 was its inherent ability to constantly surprise me even after putting over forty hours into it. Every time I thought I had a handle on the game’s limitations (whether it be story or gameplay wise), it would somehow subvert my expectations by constantly one-upping itself. Ultimately, Yakuza 0 is a relentless journey into the unforgiving underbelly of Japan that is as rewarding as it is robust.
I mainly used the grapple hook as I never felt the urge or need to use my secondary weapons. Even with my reliance on the grapple hook, I found myself grappling with how to control it throughout my playthrough. As I swung from ledge to ledge, the hook regularly failed to connect with its target and sent me plummeting to my death.
By focusing on improving the minute that matters on and off the field – EA Tiburon have created an experience that is a phenomenal triumph. Even with all the problems I encountered while playing, the balance of accessibility and depth the game provides may make Madden NFL 17 the best game the series has ever produced.
Despite Need for Speed Payback’s accessible and gratifying approach to arcade racing, the time needed to progress in a satisfactory manner regresses the joy of the rubber meeting the road to a grind that ironically brings the pace of the game to a grinding halt. Need for Speed Payback totes itself as a romp of reckless abandon but ultimately lacks the longevity, charisma and conviction necessary to make it a ride worth taking.
With a gratifying campaign mode and a racing experience that had me physically leaning my body into every turn, Codemasters have created a racing game that provides a gripping experience from start to finish. I may not start getting up in the wee hours of the morning to start following the Formula 1 championship but I’ll happily take F1 2016 for a spin anytime.
The action that takes place in the arenas of Pyre is explosively fast-paced and laced with magical allure. While the action that occurs off the field is a satisfyingly slow unravelling of dense lore and affecting individual tales. These contrasting styles interchange flawlessly throughout the game’s duration - creating a rhythm for the journey that consistently feels unpredictable and exciting. Even with all its blemishes, Pyre is a rousing expression of exceptional high fantasy. The PC version of this game was played for the purpose of this review.
Although I’m not proud of my actions in this particular instance – these are the sort of scenarios Prison Architect will constantly be assaulting you with. On top of balancing the everyday managerial tasks of running a prison, fires of the metaphorical and literal kind will pop up everywhere and how you deal with them usually comes down to what’s best for your prison in the long run
