Avowed by Obsidian Entertainment is yet another reminder that this studio has firmly secured its place among the RPG greats. The team has crafted a compelling story with rich exploration and Avowed does manage to do a lot of things well, but does it live up to the hope of a spiritual Elder Scrolls successor set in the Pillars of Eternity universe?
My journey with Wayfinder has been an interesting one, to say the least. From its original incarnation as an online-only MMO-lite, where players could experience sprawling open world and co-op adventures, to its rebirth as a large-scale, multiplayer-optional ARPG—the evolution into Wayfinder 1.0 has been nothing if not an arduous process.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is finally here on October 31st, and it's BioWare's big return to Thedas—a world that fans have loved for more than a decade. Veilguard itself is now stepping into the spotlight, ready to bring some curated nostalgic feels while also pushing things in some exciting new directions that will change the Dragon Age games for years to come.
Hoyoverse recently released their latest entrant into the pantheon of prolific Anime-style games with Zenless Zone Zero on July 4th, 2024. The nostalgia-inducing, story-driven gacha hero collector has taken the tried-and-true Hoyoverse monetization model and transitioned it to a fast-paced fighter. Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) has many similarities to other popular Hoyoverse titles, but will the differences be good enough for it to stand on its own?
I’ve been playing Inkbound for the past several months, and now that the game has finally launched, it’s time to turn a critical eye to their 1.0 version, and delve deep into the pages hidden within this co-op roguelike strategy game.
Hoyoverse has become this monolithic developer in the mobile MOG genre. As the developers behind the popular game Genshin Impact and their previous Honkai title, Honkai Impact 3rd it’s abundantly clear that Hoyoverse knows how to build popular titles that have since transcended the mobile space and splashes onto PC’s and consoles as well. After dozens of hours in game, it's clear that Honkai Star Rail provides a new take on Hoyoverses usual brand of action combat, but they don’t stray t...

Ravenbound by Systemic Reaction is an action-packed roguelite game that catapults players into a world inspired by the rich tapestry of Scandinavian folklore and mythology. This third-person, action RPG game offers fast-paced combat, a permadeath system, and a mesmerizing fantasy open-world that will make you want to send a thank you note to the gods of gaming. However, be warned – its steep difficulty curve and occas...
Superhero mania has taken the world by storm over for more than a decade, and it seems as though there are no signs of that slowing, as we’ve seen a plethora of popular Marvel titles hit the scene, with plenty more on the way. Marvel’s Midnight Suns stands apart from the Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Future Revolution as a game that provides robust strategy, a nuanced story, and one thing that few Marvel games, if any, have – character creation. Despite the stark departure from the...
In Riders Republic, raucous punk blares while you perform aerial acrobatics on some of the most breathtakingly gorgeous environments, and that’s just level one. Ubisoft’s love letter to Steep fans manages to provide an MMORPG unlike any we’ve seen before. There is no question that Ubisoft Annecy knows how to make an exciting extreme sports game, but after I spent dozens of hours playing, one question beckons. Does an extreme sports game need to be massively multiplayer?
At first glance, you can easily mistake Outriders as a forgettable looter-shooter RPG. If you joined in with the millions that played the demo prior to the official release, you may have spent an insanely short 3 hours in Enoch and ended your play session with the belief that Outriders was too short-sighted, lacked depth, or maybe there just wasn’t enough there to hook you. Tread carefully Outrider, there is much more than what the mere demo showed, and you may want to think twice before yo...
