I have now spent 100+ hours with Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen early access and can confirm from my initial impression that Visionary Realms has succeeded in recreating the feel of classic MMOs like the original EverQuest at release in a base form. Interacting with the community has been enjoyable most of the time, while the basic gameplay loop feels great as someone looking to have a classic MMORPG experience, and the slow character advancement feels rewarding. Make sure to check out my Pant...
Developer Creative Assembly has created a solid game with Total War: Pharaoh. It explores the challenge of taking on the role of a leader during the Bronze Age collapse. Would-be rulers can choose their leader from three factions: Egyptian, Canaanite, and Hittite. While the aesthetics and gameplay are fun in several ways, the overall package could be better. I have played multiple leaders now and have spent most of my time with Ramesses (Egyptian), Bay (Canaanite), and Irsu (Canaanite).
The developers at Gunfire Games are back with Remnant II, and they are not wasting time getting players back into the action. When compared to Remnant: From the Ashes, this game has an overhauled UI, revamped Map/HUD, Mutators, and has rebuilt the Archetypes. There are a lot of system changes for players to dig into, but it still retains much of the gameplay feel from the first game. The retention extends to the post-apocalyptic world atmosphere ravaged by the Root. I loved returning to Wa...
I have really enjoyed playing Age of Wonder IV so far this year. I highly recommend checking out the review for readers unfamiliar with the game. When I realized that the first content pack, Age of Wonder IV: Dragon Dawn, was about to release, I couldn’t wait to jump back into the game and take on the role of playing a Dragon Ruler using a press build this past weekend. The new Dragon Ruler type added by Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Triumph Studios feels like a natural ext...
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom Chapter launched June 5 on PC/Mac and is launching June 20 on consoles. Check out the Review in Progress for my initial thoughts on the new content. This review will explore my final thoughts now that I have completed the new zones, the Chapter story, as well as my thoughts on the new class, the Arcanist. Has Zenimax done enough to make this Chapter engaging, or does it feel like another cookie-cutter yearly entry?
It has been nine years since the release of Age of Wonders III, and during my time previewing Age of Wonders IV from Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Triumph Studios, a lot of fond memories flooded back from previous Age of Wonder entries as I clicked away the turns in this fantasy 4x strategy game.
High on Life mechanically as an FPS is a mediocre title. But as the first outing in a unique setting, it is held up by its visuals, voice acting, and characters. Developer Squanch Games and writer Justin Roiland, best known for Rick and Morty on Adult Swim, have created a fun experience so long as players enjoy this style of humor. But even then, it could be too much for some fans.
Creative Assembly has introduced new multiplayer battle types and expanded the number of players to a maximum of 8 in Total War: Warhammer III co-op campaigns. Each of these features brings in new mechanics and fun elements. But do they hold up after multiple battles, and are there any issues?
