Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Yotei

September 24, 2025
8.8/10

Sucker Punch's eleventh game since its foundation, Ghost of Yōtei, launches in a week on PlayStation 5. It's been well over five years since the launch of Ghost of Tsushima, the longest time span between Sucker Punch games in the studio's history, but that's no big surprise considering that the development of triple-A games continues to get longer and more challenging. Make no mistake: Ghost of Yōtei is absolutely a triple-A game at its core, and it couldn't be any different given the enormous success of its predecessor (which I loved, as you might recall).

Mafia: The Old Country launches tomorrow, nearly nine years after the last mainline entry in the franchise, making fans more than eager to get their hands on this new game. Sure, in 2020, there was the Mafia: Definitive Edition remake of the original classic from 2002, but this is a new story, albeit one set in the past.

Fans of Indiana Jones haven't exactly been swimming in great new entries for many years now. The adventure franchise was created by George Lucas in the eighties with three highly successful movies. Then, all those who loved the scruffy but charming professor of archaeology portrayed by Harrison Ford had to wait for nearly twenty years to get Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It wasn't until last year that another sequel, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, was released. It featured Harrison Ford's final appearance, and the reception wasn't nearly as great as the previous installments.

It would be the euphemism of the year to say that for BioWare, a lot is riding on Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The once revered maker of roleplaying games like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age has stumbled severely with its last two games, Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem.

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred
Unscored

Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred is set to launch just about sixteen months after the debut of the base game. It's a much quicker timeframe than we've seen with Reaper of Souls, the first and only Diablo III expansion, which only materialized almost two years after the base game's launch.

Nearly five years after the launch of Ashen, Wellington-based game developer A44 is about to launch its second game, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn.

Cambridge-based game developer Ninja Theory has produced praiseworthy yet commercially unsuccessful games for most of its history, ever since the days of Kung Fu Chaos, a 3D fighting party game made exclusively for the original Xbox console.

When it comes to tennis games, there's nothing quite like Top Spin. The series originally created as an Xbox exclusive by PAM Development has historically delivered gameplay of unmatched depth combined with solid licensing and strong online features, making it the tennis game to love for true fans of the sport.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden may look like a bit of a surprise to all those gamers who know French developer Don't Nod mostly from pure adventure games like their breakout Life is Strange and sequel, Tell Me Why, Twin Mirror, Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, or even the recent Jusant.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2
8.5/10

When Marvel's Spider-Man was released in September 2018 for the PlayStation 4 console, it had been 14 years since the launch of Spider-Man 2. That game developed by Treyarch was long considered to be the golden standard of game adaptations based on Marvel's friendly neighborhood superhero from Queens, mostly thanks to the excellent web-swinging mechanics and the innovative open world experience for a game crafted for sixth-generation consoles like the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox.
