Set in 1900s Sicily, Mafia: The Old Country is a bold reimagining of what a Mafia game can be. Equal parts historical drama and brutal crime story, this is Hangar 13’s most focused effort yet. It blends narrative grit with breathtaking scenery, letting you immerse yourself in the bloodstained soil where the Mafia began.

Following the success of THPS 1 + 2, developer Iron Galaxy steps in to give us the long-awaited Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. Reimagining, more than remaking, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 (2001) and 4 (2002) for a modern audience, we are treated to updated graphics, a stacked roster, new maps, expanded creation tools, and smoother gameplay than ever. This is our second love letter to skate culture, and while there have been some controversial changes, it balances the grind well.

The GEX Trilogy revives a very particular slice of 90s gaming nostalgia. The wisecracking gecko with a remote in one hand and a never-ending stream of one-liners in the other has a special spot in my heart and many others. Gex was cheeky and colourful with all the adult jokes flying over my head. Perfect for my early gaming experiences.

Elden Ring Nightreign is the spinoff no one expected but instantly makes sense. FromSoftware goes full experimental, tossing out slow-burn exploration for something faster, tighter, and more frantic. It’s a roguelike remix of the Lands Between where you sprint through 30–45 minute co-op runs, grab loot on the fly, crush bosses, and take down a big bad Nightlord before time runs out. The soul of Elden Ring is still here, but the rhythm has changed, and it hits hard.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to live out your cop movie fantasy with a city full of crooks to collar, then The Precinct might just have your number. A sandbox police game set in the streets of Averno City, it combines methodical police work with arcade-style action. But while there’s plenty of heart behind the badge, not every mechanic fires on all cylinders.

The Doom Slayer is back and he’s heavier and angrier. DOOM: The Dark Ages reimagines the franchise’s blistering pace with a medieval twist and a new “stand your ground” mentality. It trades double-jumping and grappling hooks for a powerful shield, an upgradable flail, and dragon rides through the skies. The result is a variation of DOOM that mostly refreshes the formula without losing its soul.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a love letter to one of the most charmingly chaotic RPGs ever made. It’s not perfect and it doesn’t try to be. Instead, it embraces its jank with open arms, wraps it in beautiful new visuals, reminding us why Cyrodiil still holds a special place in RPG history.

From the indie mind of Brendon Chung and the team at Blendo Games, Skin Deep is a quirky first-person shooter where you’re a barefoot insurance agent sneaking around starships, rescuing talking cats, and tossing banana peels at space pirates. It’s been a long time since it was first announced in 2018, but the wait has delivered something charmingly chaotic. Like a slapstick version of Deus Ex, Skin Deep blends immersive sim mechanics with nonstop jokes and colourful, blocky art. Sometimes...

Some games from the ‘90s exist in a strange, rose-tinted limbo where you remember them feeling a certain way, but replaying them now feels, well… clunky. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was one of those games, a charming 3D platformer with tank controls that made precise jumps a nightmare. But now, thanks to its remaster, Croc has returned, and he’s feeling better than ever. Well, mostly.

Xenoblade Chronicles X was a standout title on the Wii U, a game that pushed the boundaries of open-world design and mech combat, but not without hardware limitations. Now, with its long-awaited Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch, we can finally experience this ambitious sci-fi RPG with modern refinements. But does it hold up in 2025 and is it worth diving back into Mira’s vast landscapes again?
