Amid Evil

Amid Evil is a superb first-person shooter crafted in the classic style, and a more than worthy spiritual successor to Heretic. But it's more than either of those things: it is its own masterpiece, an instant classic for all times.

There's a lot of evil around, but it's not too big of a deal when you're armed with entire planets.

I’m not as over the moon as I was with DUSK, but that’s like saying you didn’t enjoy driving the Camaro as much as the Corvette. Obviously the sports car is nicer, sleeker, and prettier, but the muscle car is still a damn fine piece of machinery. Amid Evil is much the same. This is another wonderful FPS from New Blood that pays homage to and improves upon the past in all the ways you could hope for. Do you really need me to say anything else?

We don’t exactly live in a time where retro-styled shooters are rare, and New Blood Interactive is one of the reasons for that. The publisher is basically focused on delivering games that look, feel and play like natural evolutions of the franchises released by iD Software in the mid-90s. Dusk was their take on Quake, while Dusk ’82 was them paying homage to old school Castle Wolfenstein (as in, the ones before the Wolfenstein everyone knows). Amid Evil was their take on Hexen and Heretic...

AMID EVIL is a fantastic shooter with immaculate level and visual design. And enjoying this on the Steam Deck will be quite easy to do.
