Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Atelier Resleriana is a visually stunning and excellently crafted RPG that offers a fresh and vibrant experience for both series veterans and newcomers. The game masterfully blends its charming narrative with a polished battle system and a surprising amount of player-friendly features, making it a truly standout title.
Atelier Resleriana's console outing is both a crash-course in the franchise's core tenets, and a welcome breath of cozy fresh air.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian is one of the most approachable Atelier experiences for new fans, while also bringing back what made the series so iconic.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian brings the beloved series back to its roots. With charming visuals, classic alchemy mechanics, and a cozy yet engaging story, it feels like a love letter to longtime fans—though its safe approach may not surprise everyone.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian is a grand time in the Atelier series. It is fun and returns to the roots of the series, even by bringing back past characters from the series. It still suffers from the difficulties of the previous Atelier games, but fans will love it.
The Atelier series returns with Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian, another installment that promises to blend familiar alchemy mechanics with fresh story elements and new gameplay features. As a follow-up to Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & Polar Night Liberator, this latest entry takes players to the Lantarna continent with brand new protagonists and an original storyline. Our review covers the game’s key aspects, from its story and characters to the core al...
With Atelier being my favourite JRPG series, I’m usually excited and optimistic whenever a new entry is announced. I’ve felt the exact opposite about Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, though. There’s good reason for this, as this game is a successor to the free-to-play gacha spin-off Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, which was quickly shut down in the West. This new release is mostly presented as a standalone adventure, but it’s still got a mish-mash of mechanics and lore-elements from this now Japan-only gacha game and a sprinkling ...
All in all, Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian is a slow-paced but cute JRPG with an expansive crafting system. If you like Atelier games, you’ll have fun with it. If you’ve never tried an Atelier game, it’s not a bad place to start. Just don’t expect something revolutionary from a slice of life game about grief, town development, and alchemy.
The gameplay structure of Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian feels a bit like a recipe, with intertwining elements that each contribute to the sum of its parts.
While not the best Atelier game in recent memory, Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian is fun and great for newcomers.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and the White Guardian isn't a revolutionary addition to the RPG genre, but nails down its execution well enough to be an entertaining game in its own right. The alchemy system is surprisingly deep while its combat mechanics are decent for an evening of fun without the need to master enemy attack patterns and party windows.
Atelier, Gust’s long-running item synthesis RPG series, reached new heights with the debut of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout in 2019. Gust used that momentum to sincerely attempt to reinvent what Atelier is in systems and scale, leading to the massive and successful Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. At the same time the series couldn’t escape a certain albatross hovering above Japanese RPGs, and we saw Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & the Liberator of Polar Night hit mobile and PC as a free-to-play game with a gacha system. The history her...
