With Batman: The Telltale Series finally done, City of Light provides an interesting final episode with some great fight scenes and final story moments. Sadly it also has the absolute worse technical issues I've seen in a Telltale episode that do a really good job not letting City of Light end on the high note it should.
In general, covering Batman: The Telltale Series has felt like a journey. Episodic games are very clever in that way and I’m sad to say goodbye to the characters that I’ve invested in for almost half of a year. But if future Telltale games take notes from this one and improve upon them, it’s all uphill from here on out and I look forward to more journeys in the future.
The sound in this episode is also at an all-time high. This episode felt particularly inspired by the more epic, heavy tone of Arkham City‘s soundtrack, carrying on a trend of focusing on different Batman themes in each episode. The use of the series’s stellar main theme is perfect as well, especially in the already stunning final battle sequence.

Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 5: City of Light concludes Telltale’s Batman series on a high note. The detective sequences either need to be improved or reduced to a cutscene and the technical issues have become increasingly more difficult to simply accept. Despite this, I cannot wait to see what season 2 holds for Batman.
Episode 5 neatly concludes a tense, multi-layered series with engrossing character development and creative surprises in store for even the most dedicated Batman fans. The detective mode sequences are slow and tedious and there are some major pacing issues, especially in the abrupt and confusing ending. Overall, though, my interest in Telltale’s versions of Gotham, Bruce Wayne and Batman never faltered, thanks to a constantly evolving, largely unpredictable story.
