Overall, Bounty Star provides players with an arcade-like experience involving customizable mechs, which is surprisingly not an oversaturated niche yet. The solid combat and customization options highlight an overall polished product that is accompanied by an overall insightful narrative and smooth gameplay on console. For any mech fans, Bounty Star is worth checking out and is also currently a part of Xbox Game Pass at the time of this review.

Bounty Star is a fun time-killer if you want something straightforward and entertaining with an emotional core that doesn't ask all that much of you

A tumbleweed dances across a dusty desert, but this isn’t anywhere like we have here and now, because this one is covered in bandits, dinosaurs, mercenaries, monsters, and reasonably sized robots! The world ended once, one more time, and you are here to be a force of good among the remnants of civilization fighting back against a hard environment as well as the forces of evil humans. Thankfully, they aren’t the only ones with a robot.

Bounty Star combines fast-paced mech combat with base-building to support your operations. Customising your mech and dealing with challenges is fun. Farming doesn’t appear for a while and your milestones are unclear. It’s a decent game that takes some chances but not everything works well.

Summary Bounty Star has some interesting moments, but it needed more time to cook. There are polish issues that really take you out of the experience. Clem, though, is an interesting character dealing with the backwater dealings of a bounty hunter. The repetitive loop wanes on you by the end of a playthrough, but there's just enough here to experience this story. Ultimately, I love the genre mash-up, but it doesn't have enough content to provide a memorable experience.

If you enjoy mech combat with an impressively personal touch then join Clem in Bounty Star which is a great new game in the genre.

Bounty Star is a title of interesting ideas that never fully realizes any of them. The narrative foundation is strong, the setting is unique, and the ambition to blend mech warfare with homestead management deserves praise. But the execution fumbles with its overly repetitive design and shallow systems.

Bounty Star attempts to merge mech combat and farming together into one delicious melting pot. It might sound like an unlikely combo, but it strangely works. Unfortunately, the farming elements are average at best. But if you're looking for a serious mech experience, it could still be worth a look.

The Wild West setting, intriguing lore and mech combat feel promising at first, but Bounty Star wastes them with a repetitive gameplay loop and dull story.

Bounty Star is a fun mech action game with surprising systems, fun characters, and some light base-building mechanics, but a lack of polish in key places really hold it back.

Bounty Star is fun whether you’re hunting down scum, modifying your mech, or tending to your farm.

October 23, 2025 Read Review

Bounty Star’s combination of mech combat and farming is equal parts compelling and tranquil, and Clem’s story is riveting. Sometimes, you have to get back in the robot and hope there’s a life on the other side.

Bounty Star: The Morose Tale of Graveyard Clem is coming to Game Pass today. You are Clementine, a loner who failed at protecting those in her stead. After wallowing in a drunken stupor, you’ll build her life back up, one repetitive mission at a time. Solid writing and voice work can’t save this one from a frustrating mission and homestead structure, which is a shame, as the game oozes southwestern charm.
