There's a well made, fun, unique, gorgeous platformer to be found here. If you're a Wii fan, I strongly recommend that you support this caliber of third-party effort so that we can see more games like this. Specifically, a sequel that addresses the few concerns that I've mentioned, adds Wii MotionPlus functionality and an online mode, and takes THQ's blobby hero to the next level.
de Blob, the colorful platformer of revolution and a color-splattering ball named Blob, is back! Originally released to great acclaim late in the Wii's life cycle, THQNordic has brought this family-friendly romp to this generation of consoles with updated textures and upscaled custcenes. Grab your controller, and get ready to fight the grey, boring man with a bevvy of graffiti talents!
The painting mechanic will have kids hooked straight away and there's enough variety here to keep them entertained for the whole 10 or more hour single-player campaign.
You have to love it when underrated classic games get remade for modern consoles. de Blob delighted 3D platformer fans on the Wii almost a decade ago and it holds up beautifully so let's get this colourful party started!
Nine years after its appearance on the Wii, de Blob has rolled onto the PlayStation 4. While certainly an unexpected port, it isn’t an unwelcome one. This colourful platformer was a delightfully whimsical adventure nearly a decade ago, with a simple concept that exuded fun and creativity. Pleasingly, this holds true today.
While it definitely shows its age visually, De Blob’s Switch version is still a wonderful time for those that have been fans of the game or to newcomers of the quirky platformer. Its wonderful sandbox style and marvelous soundtrack will make for a good experience if you can overlook some of the presentation issues within.
