An incredibly fun and great looking voxel style game that has you working with people all over the blocky world to take down the alien insects trying to take over the Earth. The game is full of action and insanity that will keep you entertained for a long time!

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers might be the full-on pinnacle of “turn your brain off and play” in the best way. I truly found it to be pretty much thoughtless fun the whole way out with a few wows at certain enemy encounters in the game’s charming style, interest in what my newly rescued Brothers and Sisters and their weapons and abilities could do, and slight annoyance when I found anyone wasn’t good enough to run with my A Squad, which I legitimately named EDF Speedwagon. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is a genuine joy to play and a fun spinoff from the main series. EDF is a silly series even with its dark undertones, but World Brothers is a lot more light-hearted, and could well lead to a lot of new players looking forward to Earth Defense Force 6.

A very enjoyable EDF game that costs more than it should. But it nails all the important stuff, while adding some enjoyable new mechanics, even if some depth is sacrificed in the process.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers may lack depth but it still offers a pure EDF experience with plenty of action in a setting that is lighter than ever before.

The bugs are back, but this time you have friends. Lots of friends. This graphic overhaul of the classic shooter series aims at more casual players but still delivers plenty of action.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is a great entry point for those looking to get into the long-running series, and one that’s more accessible than ever thanks to an aesthetic that makes it more suitable for younger players. Throw in new features like the character switching mechanic and you have a game that’s a blast to play in small doses when alone, but really shines when played with others. Ultimately though, repetition is still an issue, as the gameplay never really evolves as you move through the lengthy campaign.

The music is very energetic and almost aggressively exciting, which is a good fit for the tone of World Brothers. The voice acting is especially suited to the game, as it’s as hammy as one could hope for in a B-movie inspired game like this. Some of the silliest lines are delivered with boundless enthusiasm, which I have to give props to the voice talent for.
