Effie is good 3D Platformer that left me with a big smile on face. The Red Plains are a beautiful location to explore, especially given that you have an awesome hoverboard to do it with. The combat does hold it back a bit but the overall package is one that fans of 3D Platformers should definitely experience.
It's rare to see an indie developer make a 3D platformer as solid as Effie so grab your shield and get ready to go on one epic adventure.
Adventure platformers are coming back in a big way! The popularity of numerous released and planned remakes and remasters of our nostalgic platforming days are the best proof of that. That's where Effie also comes in and brings a completely new and accessible adventure wrapped in a nostalgia wrapper that will definitely put a big, giant smile on your face.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing Effie. Though the progression and combat system left me wanting, it wasn't enough to make me dislike the game. The problems that arose from combat led to feelings of boredom and monotony, that usually abated with the storytelling and visuals. Effie is definitely worth the price point of $19.99...
Effie is a Disney-esque 3D action-adventure packing all the cliché tropes of a bog standard fairy tale. It meshes together traditional elements of the genre with expanded, enchanting environments to explore, all of which dazzle and ooze with charm.
A well-meaning and reverant 3D action platformer that's undone by middling execution and a remarkably dull introduction.
We want to emphasize that 5 will always be the “average” number, not 7. So by far, it’s 50% great and it’s also 50% bad.
