Fae Farm is an incredibly cute cosy game that makes for a great title to play alone, and while we didn’t have the opportunity to play multiplayer, we’d wager it’s even better when exploring with others, too.

For a game that boasts all the coziness, there sure is a lack of it. Fae Farm offers itself a competitor to games like Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons. But does it make a splash? It does, but unfortunately for the wrong reasons.
Read Full ReviewFae Farm is still an enjoyable farming sim where you can easily lose track of time, spending hours crafting items, petting animals, and spelunking in dungeons. The kid-friendly tone of the game makes it easy to recommend for all audiences, though the NPCs and thereby the town of Azoria lack depth. The main quests are more interested in having you explore dungeons than actual farming, and the game has more than several areas that need improvement. Still, despite its flaws, Fae Farm fits cozily among the rest of its farming brethren.

Fae Farm improves the genre with innovations in farming mechanics, but a number of questionable design decisions stops it from being a truly great game.

An all right farming simulator with charming graphics, fairly rounded mechanics, and a unique and interesting magical angle, but too slow to the selling point.

As an enjoyer of tasks that most people consider menial and boring, I have always been a major supporter of the farming sim genre. I’m always raptly waiting for the next release in the Rune Factory or Harvest Moon series and blatantly ignoring every open-world AAA experience unless it includes a cooking minigame as a bare minimum.

Fae Farm is a wonderful multiplayer farming simulator that runs extremely well on the Steam Deck.

I have played a lot of farm sims in my day. Fae Farm is one of the better options available, especially if you have three other friends that you can play along with. Fae Farm falls under the cozy game genre, giving off a relaxed and pressure-free atmosphere more so than hurry up and plant those seeds. It provides diverse customization options, including skin tones and pronoun choices; it also streamlines farming tasks and simplifies tool selection. Crafting and decorating are also present, as well as dungeon exploration. But like a lot of cozy farm-style games, this can feel repetitive...

In its quest for coziness, Fae Farm seems to want to put up a barrier between you and any emotions at all. There’s no fear, challenge, or heartache to be had here, but similarly, there’s no joy or triumph. What should be an escapist fantasy instead feels more like emotional escapism.

Fae Farm is probably some of the most fun I've had with a life simulator once I accepted it for what it was. If socialising and role-playing is very important to you in a game, maybe skip this one!

When playing Fae Farm solo, it's a fun story in a cute world filled with magic and connections. There are a lot of moving parts, but I think they do a good job of easing into them. It does leave a little desire for more clothing and hair customizations and playing multiplayer means starting a whole new world. But overall, it was definitely worth playing and something I'll pick up again.

Fae Farm, developed by Phoenix Labs, is the latest farming sim to enter the market and, while it has its flaws, the game does an excellent job of standing out in a crowded market. September 2023 is a month filled with similar releases, from Paleo Pines to Harvest Moon. The newest fairy farming game needs to work to hold its own, and honestly, I think it does.

Fae Farm is a low-stakes, inclusive, and supremely cozy farming sim that delivers some uniquely interconnected features in a neat and accessible way. It's a narratively charged, explorative experience, and a shining example of devs having learned from the mistakes of other farming sims.

Fae Farm has some weak points that need a little more fairy dust to truly fly, but there are still some great things to love about this farming sim.
