Felix the Reaper Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
More puzzle types would have done Felix the Reaper a lot of good, but what's here is extremely charming and quite a bit of fun.
Indeed, it was often quicker to restart an entire level than try and correct my mistakes, which just made me feel like even more of an imbecile than before. Ultimately, it all left me feeling cross - which is a shame, given how lovable and endearing Felix is as a character. I'd jump at the chance to play another game with him in the lead role, especially if it actually made use of his love of music (maybe in a rhythm action capacity?) instead of using it as a neat thing to look at while you rage and froth at obtuse light puzzles.
Felix the Reaper is a surprisingly creative and entertaining 3D puzzle game that has an uncanny way of twisting dark humor and romance. If challenging puzzles with a nice background story are your thing, you can find Felix the Reaper on Steam on October 17th.
While it has its occasional little issues here and there, Felix the Reaper stands out as one of the year's best puzzlers. Felix himself may easily lure you in with his charming appearance and cute design, along with a colorful world that he inhabits full of morbid humor and terrific music, but once you're in, you'll find a highly challenging game with superb, rewarding gameplay that will have you tearing out your hair one minute and cheering in delight the next, like any good puzzle game that puts up a fight. If death should indeed be considered a joyous occasion, then Felix appropriately brin...
Felix the Reaper is an excellent game on paper, but its execution dooms it. While the unique concept shines—and I doubt I'll be forgetting such a lovable face of death anytime soon—the actual gameplay made it a bit of a slog.
A tedious task of life-taking that doesn't surprise over time.
A wretched, annoying puzzle game that consists primarily of tedious busywork. While Felix the Reaper has bags of personality, a vein of dark humour, and the inimitable voice of Sir Patrick Stewart, it regrettably isn't nearly as fun as it looks. As far as I'm concerned, Felix can go dance off the edge of a cliff.
