Thanks to a long list of additions and improvements, what was already a genre-defining masterpiece has been lifted to all new heights, proving that such an epic vision feels more at parity with the current wave of hardware than it did with the last. It doesn't matter if it's your first time visiting Los Santos or if you're thinking of booking a return flight, we give GTA V our highest recommendation. This is simply a marvelous game.

Relax – it was worth the wait, and then some. The sprawling, ingenious, hilarious Grand Theft Auto 5 is a contender for the best game of the current generation of consoles, and might just be the best game of all time.

No matter if you're new to Grand Theft Auto V or a returning player, there's more than enough in this next-generation port to keep you satisfied. The first-person perspective manages to make a year-old game feel new again, and the changes made to the graphics, gameplay and online mode are substantial. One of 2013's best games is made even better on the PlayStation 4.

Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. These three personalities are at the very core of Grand Theft Auto V – one of the most anticipated games of this console generation. Everything that happens within the title revolves around the trio, from the gripping get-rich-quick heists that punctuate the story to the side activities that help to define each character's life. Rockstar Games' latest is an impressively robust title that can keep you hooked for hours on end, and most importantly, it confidently improves upon everything that Grand Theft Auto IV did well.

It's somewhat unfair to compare the next-gen console versions to a PC as my video card costs more than both consoles combined. That said, what Rockstar has pulled off here is as close to a PC running at max settings, but with a slightly lower draw distance and less feature-rich anti-aliasing. On the other hand, if you are coming from the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, the difference is staggering. GTA V doesn’t break new ground. It’s not going to change the world. It is, after all, the fifth numbered title in a well loved series and for the most part it is simply delivering more of what the developers must know the fans want to see. To expect otherwise is idiocy. But it is engaging, compelling, interesting, clever, funny and packed with things to do and see. Arguably the biggest addition in this version is the addition of a first-person mode, which marks the first time any such mode has been implemented in a Grand Theft Auto title. Rather than being a tacked-on feature, Rockstar’s first-person support actually outdoes a lot of games, which is surprising considering it originally shipped without any such features. First-person works surprisingly well with this game, though it may be a matter of preference wether you’ll actually want to play through the game in this state.
