Hard Reset

Though a limited in many ways, it's still easy to have a good time with Hard Reset. It's a classically styled shooter where your main concern is how to blow stuff up as fast as possible without losing all your health. The disposable story and flat characters shouldn't be surprising for a game like this, but other issues like a the lack of enemy variety and short overall length are disappointing. Hard Reset is the debut shooter of a young Polish studio. We check whether the classic FPS genre is relevant nowadays.

Depending on how much fun you are having just blowing up stuff, you'll find that digging into the harder difficulty settings for the game can be somewhat rewarding if just for the insane challenge it will bring.  But make no mistake about it, Hard Reset is about as superficial as superficial games come.

Is the concept of blowing up a horde of malfunctioning robots in a cyberpunk world sound fun to you? May want to think twice with this game.

So amongst the other problems, it’s also short and clearly rushed. It was only announced two months ago! If you needed more time guys we really wouldn’t have minded! Consequently, with the game as it is now, I just can’t recommend it. With another two chapters and a bigger range of enemies this would’ve been in the 7s or 8s, but without at least co-op or any compelling reasons to replay I can’t imagine anyone feeling that Hard Reset is worth its current price.
