When it first got unveiled at one of the first State of Play conferences, Iron Man VR excited little to no people. I know it’s hard to properly showcase how good a VR game can be on a 2D screen, as well as in a short trailer, but I thought that the people at Sony and developer Camouflaj did a poor job trying to entice consumers with that announcement at the time. There’s just no reason to get either of these versions of Iron Man (or the other console versions for that matter). I was hoping the Wii controls and High voltage development could make the game exciting and fun, but it came off very bland and ho-hum. Not terrible, but just not interesting. With an all-new story written by renowned comic book author Matt Fraction, Iron Man 2 will include familiar elements from both the movie and comic book universes, allowing players to truly feel the power of Iron Man with new destructible environments, epic enemies, and innovative hand-to-hand combat moves.
This is usually the part of the review where I partake in a bit of enjoyable banter, maybe drop a wise crack about the whole movie tie-in phenomenon. Maybe poke a bit of fun at comic book games. Heck, I could even spend some time wondering how a man in a giant metal suit manages to attract the ladies. Frankly, all of that would be wasted here as it is material that a game of this nature doesn't even deserve.
