With Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Czech developer Warhorse Studios demands a seat at the table of role playing masters with a dangerously immersive WRPG that, almost disappointingly, is polished to mirror-brightness, like a dazzling suit of tourney plate.

Jesus Christ be praised, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is back! 2018’s medieval RPG quickly made a name for itself with its brutal realism, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is bigger, better, and even more epic.

As a sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 doesn't reinvent the wheel. It does improve on the formula of the original game in various ways, however, and features a story with more impactful choices. Only some troublesome stealth sections and the odd bug bring it down a little, but it's still a fantastic experience overall.

When it comes down to it, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a brilliant and astounding experience by a developer that has shown itself to be a leader in the open-world genre. Henry makes for such a pleasant protagonist that you can’t help but love him, and the journey you go on across medieval Bohemia is equal parts complex and deeply absorbing. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 shines bright among its peers, even with its dints and dents.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn't a game that should attract every kind of player, but even though you might have avoided the first part for whatever reason, you definitely should give the sequel a chance. It is a much more spectacular, bigger in every way mega-game that stands out from its peers.

While Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 still stumbles in some aspects of its portrayal of 15th-century Bohemia, the shadow that lingered over the first game has mostly dissipated. This is a massively improved sequel in every other area, with better combat, quest design, and none of the technical issues that plagued the original. Not everyone will vibe with its slow-paced and oftentimes tedious approach, but those willing to meet it on its own terms will find a compelling open-world RPG that relishes in player agency and the consequences of your actions.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is filled with incredible characters and one of the most engaging historical stories I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Despite some intense moments and frustrating sections of the game, there's so much enjoyment to be squeezed out.

It has been hard to find the words to accurately represent how phenomenal this game is. If I could sum up Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in just one, it would be this: masterpiece.
